I love that natural glamorous look I get when I wear eyelashes; my eyes make a statement, I have “Eyes that speak” loveliness.

Here are the products I use when I need “Eyes that speak”.

  • QUO full lashes (Glamour 806), I also use Ardell lashes ( Demi 120) and others depending on the look I am going for.
  • To attach my lashes, I use the DUO eyelash adhesive.  This is a superb glue, it dries clear a few moments after applying your lashes.

I love my lashes

Here are a few tips for perfect full lash application. Apply a small amount of glue onto the strip of the full lash, adequately covering it from beginning to end. Wait a few seconds for the glue to become tacky (blow lightly on the glued lash), before applying the lashes to the base of your eyelids.

I finish up the look with either MAC’s Kohl eye pencil in Smoulder, MAC’s Fluidline in Black Track or L’Oreal Paris Telescopic Liquid Eyeliner in Carbon Black.

Hey gorgeous, just go for it! Eyes that are  glamorous, elegant, flirty or bold; however you do your thing, make certain you have “Eyes that speak.”

There is a delicate balance when applying makeup to mature skin; to achieve a fresh, glowing, vibrant face, it requires patience, the right products and skills.  Here are the steps I follow to create that polished finish for mature makeup.

1.  PREPARE THE SKIN:

  • Mature skin needs to be hydrated because it tends to be drier and dehydrated.  The areas to hydrate are the eyes and the nose as this will improve the overall makeup application.

2.  CONCEALER:

  • Choose a concealer that has a moisturizing formula, apply it to the inner sockets, the inner lids, the marionette lines (lines that run from the corners of the mouth, down along the chin) and to the deep chin creases.
  • Avoid putting concealer on eye bags or on crows feet; however, you may conceal underneath the eye bag if there is a pronounced dark circle.
  • Do stipple (blend out), the concealer over dark shadows on the face to get a smooth even canvas.

3.  FOUNDATION:

  • Great foundation gives a youthful appearance, soften lines and sets a velvety finish. If you have not achieved this outcome, you have either chosen the incorrect makeup formula: Oil free, oil absorbing or powder foundation, which are too drying for the skin; or you have applied too much foundation or the foundation formula is too thick.
  • Remove excess oil from the skin by blotting it with a tissue to avoid using too much powder.

4.  POWDER:

  • Powder should be applied sparingly to mature skin; overuse will bring attention to fine lines, which will have a cakey finish. For a beautiful finish, go over the skin with a clean powder puff, as this will blend together the powder and foundation nicely.

5.  EYESHADOW:

  • It’s all about colour selection! Choose high contrast colours for an attractive, eye catching look.
  • Select medium light colours, they help mature eyes look lively and vibrant.  Matte medium dark eye contour on puffy creases works fabulous! It lessens the puffiness and gives the eye a younger, lighter look.
  • Rich colours like red and violet will appear as a black eye or bruises, also pearly colours and intense iridescence textures on mature creases ages the skin.
  • Drawing crease and adding eye contour can be tricky when it comes to mature skin. By lifting the crease at the centre it allows you to draw the crease in higher.

6.  EYELINER:

  • Eyeliner is important for defining the eye and giving it new life.  When lining mature eyes, gently pull the skin taut and release as you deposit the product. When the skin is pulled taut, it allows the product to be deposited nearer to the lash line; however, when the skin is released, it shows the artist  how the line will appear on the eye.

7.  EYEBROWS:

  • Focus on the mid and the upper portion of the brow when filling in the colour, you will end up with classic looking brows. When you fill in the remaining lower portion of the brow, you will create amazing looking brows.

8.  CHEEKS:

  • The zygomatic area of a mature face tends to lose its firm, plump appearance.  Be cautious when countering this area.
  • Mature skin tends to have broken capillaries on the cheeks, so help diminish the redness from surfacing through the concealer in this area, do not use red hued cheek blushes.

9.  LIPS:

  • To create a neat and straight lip line on mature lips, a slight smile is required; this allows the corrective lip line to be drawn effortlessly. A smile will taut the skin around the mouth making it easier to draw a defined line.

Well, that’s it for now beautiful people. Thanks for stopping in and reading about “Mature & Looking Fabulous!” Don’t forget to like and share my blog with your friends and family. Your support is greatly appreciated. xox

Hello Beautiful People!

We were all born with different facial features, which are unique and intriguing. The Eyes are one of our beauty characteristic having distinctive shapes and sizes, which in most cases, require corrective makeup techniques for good makeup results. Do you know the shape of your  eyes? Take a look at the chart below to identify your eye shape.

I have recently worked with model Vrinda Asrani, who has deep set eyes; a person with deep set eyes have small eye lids, the brow bone comes out further, and the eyes are deep in the socket. I shaded Vrinda’s lids with a light colour which had a bit of shimmer, placing a deeper colour just above the socket blending up and out, while using a matte flush shade on the brow bone. The eyeliner on the top lid should be thin, with more colour deposit to the bottom of the eyes for a gorgeous finish.

Send me a quick note if you have questions about the best makeup techniques for your eye shape; I want your eyes to say ….“Eye” Can See You Looking!

It’s The Bahamas…Are You Warm or Cool?

Hello Beautiful People!

The Bahamas is definitely the premier tourist destination where the scenic colours of aquamarine waters, powdered white beaches, clear blue skies, blooming yellow elder trees and the golden sunsets reveals paradise.

In makeup artistry, colours are also significant, it determines whether your skin tone is warm or cool . Warm colours are earthy and natural and compliments skin undertones that are yellow, golden or peach; cool colours are icy, jeweled-toned and vivid, which flatters skin undertones that are red, blue or pink. Do you know your colour? I do mine, I am so cool!

Here is a simple test you can take to determine if you are warm or cool.  Have a look at the inside of your wrist, are your veins green or blue? If your veins are green you are warm, if your veins are blue you are cool.

Great! Now that you have identified the colours that flatter your skin tone, you should be feeling confident and looking pretty amazing this summer.

Here are a few of my go to vibrant MAC Lipstick colours I will be wearing this summer – Vegas Volt, Lickable, Morange, So Chaud, and Candy Yum Yum.

For Noticeably Beautiful Eyes

Hello Again Beautiful People!
Spring has definitely not sprung here in Canada; we are still in the single digits! However, wherever you are, I hope you are enjoying great weather as my friends and family are in The Bahamas. They are unequivocally declaring “It’s Better In the Bahamas!”  My good friend Ta’Shar Cuccurullo has been posting some epic spring sunrise pictures from her oceanfront condo in The Bahamas, I just had to share two of them with you.

In Last week’s blog, I dared you to be “Bright & Brilliant …. It’s spring!” So, as promised, I wanted to feature two products I use personally and professionally to keep my eyeshadow, and my clients eyeshadow looking fabulous all day. Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion and MAC Cosmetics Vibrancy Eye Primers are two good eye primers, but I must admit, I am biased toward the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion because it is non-creasing, it has superb longevity and the smooth, clean finish it creates is amazing.

Here are some tips just for you!

1. Eye primers can be applied using your finger or a concealer brush
2. Only a pea size amount of conclear  is needed for each eye
3. The eye primer should be applied on the eyelids and up to the brow bone (under the eye if you are going to deposit product there)
4. The eye is primed first, concealed and followed by depositing your eye colours

There you have it Beautiful People! Now, go on and have fun painting your eye colours, you’ve got the secret “For Noticeably Beautiful Eyes.”
