Awesome Vintage Jewelry

Hello Again, Beautiful People!

I adored this beautiful vintage jewelry piece I modeled for world renowned, and North America’s premier Jewelry collector, Carole Tanenbaum.  Carole, recently held a show Downtown, Toronto, and the event was absolutely remarkable! The bright, eye-catching, canary yellow piece I am wearing is definitely an exquisite work of art, made for a woman who dares to be bold and beautiful.

Carole’s collection includes, Victorian period, designers, limited edition, and one-of-a-kind pieces. You can also enjoy jewelry by Chanel, Schiapparelli, Hobe, and Miriam Haskell, and a vast collection of Bakelite, resin, Scottish and Czech items.

Carole has been collecting vintage jewelry for over 25 years and has over 30,000 exquisite pieces.

A Noteworthy Birthday!

Hello Beautiful People!

This year’s birthday was pretty special for me, I ended a decade of an amazing journey of true womanhood. Overall, life has been good! I have had to make a lot of lemonades with the lemons life served, but I was blessed in that decade, I accomplished so much, and more importantly, I did not have to spend one day in a hospital bed.

So, I celebrated the beauty of life, the hope of a bright future, the discovery of the fountain of youth and the blessing of good health with my husband, Kelvin; our birthdays are only two days a part. We went high in the skies of Toronto, which is symbolic of how we intend to soar in the next decade of our lives.

We dined at Canoe Restaurant, located on the 54th floor of the TD Bank Tower, at               66 Wellington Street West, just west of Bay Street on the north side. We had a splendid time! Please take a moment enjoy our birthday experience with us. Bon Appetit!

Hello Again Beautiful People!

My husband and I recently dined at a cozy family owned restaurant in the trendy Ossington Ave and Queen St. West neighbourhood, Toronto, named Soos. The staff were warm and welcoming, the atmosphere was relaxed, the décor was vibrant and the music was energetic. Soos restaurant conceptualizes the “modern interpretation of Malaysian street food”; and with that said, we had the “Say What?!” moment – the deer staring in the headlight kind a look.  We were not familiar with the menu choices, nor how to pronounce the names; however, the server did an excellent job informing us what to expect in taste, texture and she also gave us a quick pronunciation tutorial.

The food was bursting with flavours and textures! We started with Keropok (kerr-OH-pock): this is a house made prawn crackers, complimented with the Soos peanut sauce.  My husband’s main course was Laksa, (lag-sa), which is chicken, prawn, tofu ball, falangal, mee, vermicelli and curry broth.  I feasted on the Char Kway Teow (char-way-ow): this is tiger prawns, chives, sambal, beansprout, egg drop and charred rice fettuccine.

Business Card Etiquette

Mayor of Toronto, John Tory and Vanessa Ferguson Kellman at The International Economic Forum of The Americas - Toronto Global Forum

Mayor of Toronto, John Tory and Vanessa Ferguson Kellman at The International Economic Forum of The Americas – Toronto Global Forum 2015

I was a guest of Mayor John Tory, at a special breakfast on July 10, as part of The International Economic Forum of The Americas – Toronto Global Forum. The formal portion of the breakfast was a discussion between Mayor Tory and three guest panelists regarding business development, investment and trade, and opportunities to build further relationships between Toronto and the Americas. The guest panelists were Alexander Mora, Foreign Trade Minister to Costa Rica,  Hans Schulz, Vice-President for the Private Sector and Non-Sovereign Guaranteed Operations, Inter-American Development Bank, and  Romaine Seguin, President of UPS Americas Region.

At the venue where The International Economic Forum of The Americas – Toronto Global Forum was held, it presented a unique opportunity to network and grow your professional base.  I am sure more than 50% of the persons attending the forum had their business cards with them – not a bad idea. However, when it comes to you and your business cards, exhibiting good business card etiquette usually serves well.

Here are some  tips for business card etiquette:

  • Do not go up to a senior executive and ask for a business card; you wait until they give you one.
  • Give your card with your name facing the person, without your thumb covering your name.
  • Do not take a business card that is soiled and present it to someone, even if it is your last card.
  • Do not pass out your business cards during a meal.
  • Always have your cards with you because you never know!

Thank you for stopping by the blog; you’ve been good company.
